Effective Date: January 15, 2026
Kick Stands Up ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

- Email Address: Required for account creation, authentication, and security.
- Name: Users may enter a display name of their choice.
- Status Updates: User-input statuses stored in Firebase Database.
- Subscription Information: If you purchase a Premium subscription through the Apple App Store, we receive confirmation of your subscription status (active, expired, or cancelled) from Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information, credit card details, or billing address — these are handled exclusively by Apple.
We do not collect unnecessary personal data beyond what's required for the App's core functionality.

We use your information to:
- Provide account access and authentication.

Payment Processing: All payment transactions for subscriptions are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store. We never see, store, or process your payment information directly. Apple handles all billing, payment processing, and subscription management according to their privacy policy and terms of service.
3. Data Storage & Security
All user data stored in Firebase is encrypted both in transit and at rest to protect against unauthorized access.
No History or Backups: Once a user modifies or deletes their status, the previous version is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
No Data Selling or Modification: Kick Stands Up never sells, shares, or modifies user data. You remain in full control at all times.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We Do Not Sell Data: Your information will never be sold or rented to third parties for marketing.
Apple App Store: When you purchase a subscription, we share minimal information with Apple to verify and process your subscription. This includes your Apple ID and subscription status. Apple processes all payment information according to their own privacy policy, which can be found at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or legal requests. However, since we do not keep historical records, once something is changed, it's gone for good.

How We Use Subscription Data
We use subscription information to:
- Verify your subscription status and determine which features you can access
- Enable or disable premium features based on your subscription tier
- Process subscription upgrades and downgrades
- Handle subscription renewals and cancellations through Apple's systems
- Provide customer support related to subscription issues
- Maintain subscription records in our Firebase database for feature access control
- Send service-related notifications about subscription status changes (e.g., renewal reminders, expiration notices)
Free Trial Data
If you start a free trial (typically 7 days), we store:
- Trial start date and end date
- Trial status (active or completed)
- Which tier you selected for your trial
This information is used solely to provide you access to trial features and to ensure you are only eligible for one trial period per account.
Subscription Management
Your subscription is managed entirely through your Apple ID account. You can view, modify, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time through your iOS device's Settings app under Subscriptions.
When you make changes to your subscription through Apple's system:
- Apple notifies our servers of the status change
- We update your subscription status in our database
- Your feature access is adjusted accordingly in real-time or at the next sync
- No additional personal information is collected during these changes
Restoring Purchases
The App includes a "Restore Purchases" feature that allows you to restore your subscription on a new device or after reinstalling the app. When you use this feature:
- The app communicates with Apple's servers to verify your previous purchases
- We receive confirmation of your active subscriptions from Apple
- Your subscription status is synchronized across all devices using the same Apple ID
- No new charges are made; this process only verifies existing purchases
- The restore process uses Apple's StoreKit framework and follows Apple's security protocols
Restore purchases does not grant access to subscriptions purchased under a different Apple ID. You must be signed in with the Apple ID that was used for the original purchase.
Data Sharing with Apple
Apple App Store Integration: When you purchase or manage a subscription, we share minimal information with Apple to verify and process your subscription:
- Your subscription status requests for verification
- Product IDs for the subscriptions you're accessing
- Transaction receipts for purchase validation
Apple processes all payment information according to their own privacy policy, which can be found at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. We recommend reviewing Apple's privacy practices to understand how they handle your payment and subscription data.
Subscription Data Storage
Subscription information is stored in two locations:
- Apple's Servers: Apple maintains the authoritative record of your purchase history, subscription status, and payment information
- Our Firebase Database: We store subscription status, tier, and expiration dates to enable feature access control. This data is encrypted and secured according to our security practices described in Section 3
We synchronize subscription status with Apple's servers regularly to ensure accuracy. If there is a discrepancy, Apple's records take precedence.
Subscription Data Retention
We retain subscription data for as long as:
- Your account remains active
- Required for customer support and dispute resolution
- Required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., tax records, fraud prevention)
If you delete your account, your subscription data will be deleted along with your other account information, except for records we are required to retain by law.
Refunds & Privacy
Refund requests are handled by Apple according to their refund policy. We do not process refunds directly. If you request a refund from Apple:
- Apple will make the refund decision based on their policies
- We may receive notification from Apple if a refund is issued
- Your subscription status will be updated accordingly
- We do not share your personal information with Apple beyond what is necessary for subscription management
Third-Party Services
For subscription processing, we integrate with:
- Apple StoreKit: For in-app purchase processing and subscription management
- Firebase: For storing and syncing subscription status across devices
Both services have their own privacy policies that govern how they handle data. We recommend reviewing:
- Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google Firebase Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Your Rights Regarding Subscription Data
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your subscription data we have stored
- Correct: Request correction of inaccurate subscription data (note: authoritative records are maintained by Apple)
- Delete: Request deletion of your subscription data by deleting your account
- Cancel: Cancel your subscription at any time through Apple's subscription management
- Port: Request an export of your subscription history
To exercise these rights regarding payment information held by Apple, you must contact Apple directly through their support channels.
6. Accuracy & Legal Coverage
No Guarantee of Historical Accuracy: Because old data is not stored, we cannot verify the validity of prior information.
User Responsibility: Users are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their own data. Kick Stands Up is not liable for outdated or incorrect information provided by users.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we’ll update the “Effective Date” above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the new terms.
